Domullo Abdumannon Murder Case Sent to Court

Investigative bodies have referred the murder case of 60-year-old businessman Mannon Sodikov, a former member of the Islamic Renaissance Party, to the Isfara City Court for further consideration.

Ekhson Boboev, 31, and Yusuf Sharifov, 46, both residents of Isfara, are suspected of Sodikov’s murder. However, Sodikov’s relatives claim that a number of unanswered questions still remain in the investigation of this case.

Abdusalom Sodikov, son of Mannon Sodikov, known as Domullo Abdumannon, reported on September 3 that the investigation was complete and the case had been referred to court on August 27.

According to him, relatives believe that another person is involved in the case. Abdusalom stated that his father trusted this person, and that is why the relatives want this person to be questioned in connection with the case.

According to him, the prosecutor explained to family members that this person was not directly present at the scene. The name of the person mentioned by the relatives is not disclosed, and it is unknown how thoroughly law enforcement agencies investigated their possible involvement in the case.

It should be recalled that Domullo Abdumannon went missing in late April. Five days later, his body was found with signs of violent death. The body of the deceased was discovered on the territory of an unfinished house in Chorbagh village of Surkh jamoat.

According to the official version of the investigation, two residents of Isfara, Boboev Ekhson and his uncle, Sharifov Yusuf, on April 27, around 3:00 AM, offered Mannon Sodikov a joint trip to Dushanbe to assist in the release of the deceased’s son, Abdusalom Sodikov, from detention. They then put him in a BMW car with state license plate 33-77 ZZ 02 and headed towards Isfara city.

“In the car, the suspects tied Mannon Sodikov’s hands with a rope and stole $100,000 he had with him. After that, the perpetrators took the man to the unfinished house of Yuldoshev Abdunabi, dragged him into the basement, and inflicted nine stab wounds, including two to the left shoulder and seven to the right side of the neck, thereby killing him. After that, the body was buried in the yard of the house,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs press center reported.

According to data obtained by Azda.tv, the suspects introduced themselves as GKNB (State Committee for National Security) employees and intermediaries in the release of prisoners, and took Sodikov with them. Sodikov’s body was found on the morning of May 4 with 11 stab wounds.

Sodikov Abdumannon previously headed the local branch of the IRPT in Surkh village, Isfara city. In 2014, he was detained and later sentenced to imprisonment. However, he was released from prison in late 2015.

The deceased’s son, Abdusalom Sodikov, was also detained by law enforcement agencies in October 2024 and sentenced to 7 years in prison on charges of sending money to Mukhammadikbol Sadriddin, the head of the opposition portal “Isloh”.
